Dragon Peaks Resort is a lovely getaway nestled in the beautiful central Drakensberg. The accommodations are consistently clean and well-serviced, and the grounds are stunning, making it an excellent value for a family retreat. While the activities for kids could be expanded, and an upgrade to the bathrooms would be beneficial, the overall experience is peaceful and rejuvenating.

Rooms

The rooms were clean, though some had a slight wooden smell that might be bothersome for those with sinus issues. The space was comfortable and cozy, particularly with the heater and fireplace during colder nights.
Service

The service was excellent, with staff who were friendly and patient with the kids. However, there was a minor hiccup with the accommodation mix-up, but the manager handled it well.

The location is breathtaking with lots to explore and enjoy in the vicinity. The grounds were well maintained, but some areas could use a little extra care and affection.

The resort has great facilities, including the opportunity for various activities like helicopter rides and scooter rides down the mountain, which were thrilling and enjoyable for my family.

I had a great time at Dragon Peaks Mountain Resort! The location is absolutely stunning, surrounded by the beautiful Drakensberg mountains. The campsites are well-maintained, and the staff is incredibly friendly. However, we faced a few issues in our accommodation, such as the toilet running and the TV malfunctioning, which made our stay less than perfect. Overall, it’s a fantastic spot for nature lovers and families.

The campsite areas were spacious and offered gorgeous views of the mountains. However, some facilities needed maintenance to improve comfort.

I had a mixed experience at the resort. The setting is lovely, with plenty of outdoor activities for kids, but the cottage felt a bit cramped for a group and the kitchen could use an upgrade. However, I appreciated the spaciousness of the rooms in the other buildings and the facility's convenient braai options made things easier.

Rooms
7.0
The rooms I stayed in were quite spacious, and I enjoyed a beautiful view of the surrounding nature. However, the cottage I booked had limited seating, which was a downside when we all wanted to relax together.
Service
6.0
The service was decent, though there were moments that felt a bit disinterested. Some staff were helpful, but overall, I wish they had been more engaged.
Location
9.0
The location is excellent, surrounded by stunning mountains and close to various activities. It’s perfect for a getaway from the city, with easy access to hiking and outdoor fun.
Dining
6.0
The dining options were convenient, but I found the food to be just average compared to local alternatives. The breakfast timing at 8 am was a bit late for early risers.
Facilities
7.0
The facilities were adequate for a resort, with braai options available in both the restaurant and individual units. However, an upgrade to the kitchens would enhance the experience.

Our stay at Dragon Peaks Mountain Resort was a mixed bag. On one hand, it offered beautiful scenery and wonderful amenities for outdoor activities, but we had some significant issues with service and maintenance. While the camping sites were nicely set up, there were serious drawbacks that impacted our experience, particularly regarding cleanliness and the attention to detail needed in upkeep.

Rooms

The service was quite lacking, as we experienced delays in maintenance requests and some noise disturbances from staff early in the morning.

We had a wonderful time at the resort, making it a perfect spot for families. The amenities catered well to the kids, and we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere despite the busy weekend. However, the self-catering unit was a bit dated and could use some upgrades. Overall, it was great value for money and a lovely retreat.

Rooms
7.0
Our self-catering unit was spacious, but it felt a bit old and could certainly benefit from some modern amenities. We appreciated the cleanliness and comfort, yet the aged furnishings took away from the overall experience.
Service

The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, making us feel welcome right from the moment we arrived. Their efficiency added to our comfortable stay, and they were always available to assist with any inquiries.
Location

The resort is beautifully situated with plenty of outdoor activities nearby. We loved being surrounded by nature, and the privacy it offered even with a full house was impressive.
Dining

We enjoyed a lovely lunch at the restaurant, and the view from there was picturesque. The food was well-priced, and we appreciated the tasty options available.
Facilities
8.0
The resort had good facilities, including an onsite supermarket that was well-stocked. The outdoor activities available, like abseiling and hiking, were fantastic, although some were limited during the off-season.
